Turnip Soup

As promised here is the Turnip Soup recipe!
Mrs Green’s Creamy Turnip Soup
Before you begin: WASH YOUR HANDS!
Ingredients:
450g of turnips cut into chunks
1 Carrot grated
1tbs butter
1 onion sliced
half tsp dried rosemary
pinch of salt and pepper
500ml vegetable stock (made from a cube)
Extra hot water if you like it a little less thick!
Equipment
Scales
table spoon (tbsp.)
teaspoon (tsp)
Measuring jug
Knife (adult to use this)
chopping board
saucepan
Method:
1. Heat 1tbs of oil and butter in a large saucepan. Add the onion and cook, stirring, until beginning to brown. (about 5 mins) Add the turnip, carrot, rosemary, salt and pepper and mix.
2. Add the stock and bring the soup to the boil. Reduce to a simmer, cover and cook until the turnip is tender. (10 – 12 mins)
3. Ask an adult to blend the soup so that it becomes delicious and creamy.
4. Allow to cool a little, pour carefully into bowls and enjoy!
